Piata Unirii is the oldest square in Timisoara, in a superb baroque style. It was first called Piata Losonczy, after Stefan Losonczy who was killed by the Turkish army in 1552, when the city was conquered by the Ottomans. The name we use today was given after 1919, because the piazza was the destination of Romanian armies entering the city after the union with Romania.

Saturday, May 30th, 2009A few words from ISWinT’s coordinator of the 2009 edition
Saturday, May 23rd, 2009Hello everybody! My name is Dan-Angel Codrean and I am this year’s coordinator. Before telling you why I came to ISWinT, I will try to describe what ISWinT really means to me.
International Student Week in Timisoara is not just a week when students from all over the world come to Timisoara and are being entertained by a group of people. ISWinT is a way of living, it is a family. You learn what team work really means, you learn to work and have lots of fun doing it… it’s one week that cannot be easily described in words by anyone… it’s simply ISWinT.
